Come and see
The Lord Jesus, Phillip, the woman at the well, those that mourned for Lazarus, the angels,
and the four beasts, and the Lord God Himself refer to this phrase: 'Come and see'.
Jn.1.35 Again the next day after John
stood, and two of his disiples: 36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he said, Behold the Lamb of God! 37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following,
and said unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou? 39 He said unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour. 40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
He first finds his own brother Simon, and says unto him, we have found the Messiah, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. 42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld
him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonah: thou shall be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. 43 And the day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and find Philip, and say unto him, Follow me. 44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip finds Nathanael, and says unto him, We have found him, of
whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. 46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there be any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip said unto him, Come and see.
Jn.4.21 Jesus said unto her, woman, believe me, the hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 You worship you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the
Jews. 23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit
and in truth. 25 The woman said unto him, I know that Messiah comes, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus said unto her, I that speak unto you am he. 27 And upon this came his
disciples, and marveled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seek you? or, Why talk you with her? 28 The woman then left her water-pot, and went her way into the city, and said to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
Mt.28.5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that you seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come,
see the place where the Lord lay.
Rev.6.1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, and one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
Rev 6.3 And when He had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come
and see.
Rev.6.5a
And when He had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see.
Rev.6.7 And when He had opened the forth seal, I heard the voice of the forth beast say, Come and see.
Jn.11.20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went out and met him: but Mary sat still in the house. 21 Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, If you had been
here, my brother had not died. 22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever you will ask of God, God will give it thee. 23 Jesus said unto her, Your brother shall rise again. 24 Martha said unto him, I know that he shall
rise again in the resurrection at the last day. 25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: 26 And whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.
Do you believe this? 27 She said unto him, Yes, Lord: I believe that you are the Christ, the son of God, which should come into the world. 28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying,
The Master is come, and calls for you. 29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him. 30 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him. 31 The Jews then which
were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goes unto the grave to weep there. 32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his
feet, saying unto him, Lord, if you had been here, my brother had not died. 33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled. 34 And said, Where have
you laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 35 Jesus wept.
Jesus wept; because they could not see. They
could not perceive the truth; they could not
understand, that He is
the resurrection, and the life.
Jesus
wept because they had come to
Him, but they could not see.
He had said to Martha, "I am the resurrection".
Martha, Mary, and the Jews that were with her, could not,
at that time, understand that Jesus Christ is the resurrection;
Many are called, and have come, and can not see.
Mt. 22.14
For many are called, but few are
chosen.
The many called, today, who will not be chosen, are looking to the resurrection at the last day; and will not see the truth, that Jesus is the resurrection; and all who have come to Him, and have been baptized into Jesus Christ, are already resurrected (Spiritually).
The few, who will be chosen, will see this truth, and live accordingly.
Jn.11.25 Jesus said unto her, I am
the resurrection, and the life: he that believes in me, (has living faith
in Me), though he were dead, (in his sin), yet shall he live: (be born again): 26 And whosoever lives
(is born again) and believes in me (has living faith
and follows Me) shall never die. Do you believe this?
At physical death, the soul of the truely born again believer goes alive,
to be with the Lord, in Heaven. (see study on 'How are we saved'; on www.to-the-bodyofchrist.com)
Lazarus is an example of a physical resurrection.
Since the redemptive sacrifice of Jesus
on the cross; since His death and resurrection, there is a
spiritual resurrection for all who will avail themselves of His sacrifice for the redemption of their sins; all who will follow Him through the waters
of baptism; all who will walk in the living faith of obedience to Him as their Lord.
Ro.6.3 Know you not, that so many of us as
were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we were buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness
of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
It is not possible to see, to perceive, to understand the truth, except one has come to Jesus, and is following Him.
John 8.31 Then Jesus said to those Jews which believed on him, If
you continue in (Gk; Meno: to stay, to dwell, to live according to) my word, then are you my disciples indeed; 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Jeremiah 6.16 Thus saith the Lord God, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk
therein.
Isaiah 28.12 To whom he said, This is the rest wherwith you may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.
Do not be one of those who refuse to walk with God in spirit and in truth; but who would rather follow their own understanding of doctrine.
